Observation 4

In my paper, I am going to focus on the use of rhetoric throughout Barack Obama's presidential election campaign. Focus may fall on examples of visual rhetoric like TV ads and campaign posters. Tentative thesis: Barack Obama's presidential campaign relied on a constant rhetorical appeal, mostly through the use of visual rhetoric in the form of ads and commercials.

I'm going to use Google and YouTube to find examples of rhetoric used to pursuade potential voters to choose Barack Obama over John McCain. I'm also going to see if Obama's official campaign site is still intact, because if it is, then it's probably a goldmine of material that I can analyze.

There is just so much visual rhetoric that I won't be able to analyze it all. This was a massive campaign, so I'm just going to have to focus on a few examples. Using these examples, I will try to accurately identify the overall campaign strategy, but obviously this is going to be a somewhat inexact science.

  1. I think your topic is very very interesting and there should be a lot of information on it. Obama definitely put a ton of emphasis on "CHANGE." I think that would be a strong point for your paper. The thesis is very good. Valid point about there being too much rhetoric to analyze. I think you should definitely pick things from all of the different types of media. ie: ads, commercials, etc. Yep, Super!!
